Our founder and managing director offers her expertise

We’re increasingly being recognised as industry leaders and are frequently being asked by leading financial outlets, such as the Financial Times, to offer our expertise on the latest news and developments. Most recently, Legal & General approached us to comment on a new services portal that they’re rolling out, recognising 55 Plus Equity Release as having the in-depth knowledge of the sector that’s necessary to understand the impact and relevance their new portal can bring. Jan Johnson, our founder and Managing Director, provided Legal & General with a quote for their press release, which has subsequently been picked up by numerous major outlets.

Legal & General’s new portal

Dubbed the Later Life Mortgages Portal’, the new service is part of of Legal & General’s Home and Finance division and is specifically aimed at later life mortgages, allowing for a better overview of available plans that fit client’s needs and a new level of customer choice. One of the major benefits that the Later Life Mortgages portal offers is that it is based on advisers’ feedback and will aim to save time on administration with new product features, including greater automation and improved product functionality. This will help advisers to identify and have access to a wider range of later life lending opportunities.

The new service features will also have benefits for the end customer, as advisers will be able to easily track applications virtually and produce Key Facts illustrations to easily present different products in a clear and understandable way for their clients. This should make the customer’s overall journey smoother and the whole process easier.

After reviewing the Later Life Mortgages portal, our Managing Director, Jan Johnson, commented: This is a great example of a lender that has listened to broker feedback and responded with an easy-to-use portal, that makes things simple, and saves us time, while also making things easier for our clients.

We can now do everything in one place, from getting an illustration to submitting an application and tracking its progress, without having to call the lender. As an adviser, online portals are a fantastic innovation – they mean hanging on the phone is hopefully a thing of the past!”

National coverage of the story

Major news outlets were equally as enthusiastic about the new portal and our comments on it. Mortgage introducer ran the story, presenting it as relevant to both advisers and customers alike. FT Adviser also picked up the story, with Jan’s comment featuring as the leading comment. Another major publication who ran the story was Best Advice, focusing on the ways in which the new portal will streamline the advisory process for later life mortgages.
